The Definitive Garden Flowers stamp series 2016
'Garden Flowers' series of definitive stamp was issued by Pos Malaysia (post service of Malaysia) in Johor (one of Malaysian states, which is situated in the south of Peninsular Malaysia) in 2016. This line of stamps is the continuation of to the definitive stamps which were produced in 2007.
This series is devoted to the coronation anniversary of Sultan Ibrahim, which is planned to be celebrated on the 23th of March. These stamps will glory the Johor Sultan.
Every sheet contains 20 stamps of the definitive series with the following denominations: stamp with Lotus design - 10 sen, stamp with French hydrangea design - 20 sen, Red lilacs designed stamp - 30 sen, stamp with design of Bougainvillea - 40 sen, stamp with design of Morning Glory - 50 sen, Hibiscus designed stamp - 60 sen.
A mini sheet accompanies the definitive stamps. It was made for the set of 6 stamp block of RM5.30.
Ruler of Johor State
Sultan of Johor is an inheritable seat. Nowadays he is the Johor nominal ruler. But previously the sultan had an absolute power and control of the state and was appointed by the chief minister (bendahara). Sultan Ibrahim Ismail Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj, the Sultan Iskandar's son, is the 25th Johor Sultan who was crowned on the 23d of March, 2015. Currently he is the ruler of Johor State. Sultan Ibrahim has a wife and 6 children.
Kembara Mahkota Johor, royal motorcycle tour program which is held every year, was founded by Sultan Ibrahim. Presently Crown Prince directs this event.
